LOUDSPEAKERS FOR DCC DECODERS



 

Massoth DCC Sound Decoders required a speaker to be connected using a Massoth 2-Pin Mini-Plug and Cable shown below $3.25 each.  ESU, Phoenix Sound and Soundtraxx DCC Sound  Decoders use screw terminals for the speaker connection.  Massoth and Soundtraxx DCC Decoders require an 8 Ohm Speaker.  ESU and Phoenix Sound Decoders can use either a 4 Ohm or 8 Ohm speaker.   All these Sound Decoders require at least a 1 Watt capable speaker, so you may need to replace the old factory-installed speaker in your LGB locomotive when installing a new DCC sound decoder......many of the older LGB locomotives used speakers less than 1 Watt capacity.
